What impact will Brazilian striker Jesus have on Aguero's Manchester City future?
At just 19-years-old, Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus has wasted little time in making a name for himself in British football.
Jesus hit two goals on his home debut for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to help his side to three points and a 2-1 victory over Swansea City.
It was his third goal in just two starts and his manager is clearly excited at the performance levels that he is already seeing from the £27m teenage signing.
Speaking to the media after Sunday's win (which moved The Citizens up to third and one point behind second-placed Tottenham), Guardiola was quick to note the impact of Jesus’ impact.
Said Guardiola: “He (Gabriel Jesus) is hungry, he has desire."
“He has shown us until now many good things and we are so happy for that because we need him.”
In a previous interview, the former Barcelona boss likened Jesus to that of a watermelon, saying you don’t know what you are going to get until you open it up. “Sometimes we are right, sometimes not,” he said.
Guardiola continued: “Most of the big important clubs in Europe wanted him. He decided to come here so it’s a big signing for him and for us.”
Jesus has kept none other than Sergio Aguero out of the starting line-up in recent games and his manager has said that he is not surprised at the immediate impact of his latest recruit.
“We expected the best because he is a striker for the national team for Brazil.”
"We have already seen a glimpse of what Jesus can do and an insight in to his potential." Guardiola points out some of the forward’s attributes and qualities.
“In the box he has something special. Without the ball he is involved.”
Guardiola added: “He is so intelligent when and how to put pressure to the central defenders.”
It simply cannot go unnoticed just how quickly Jesus has slotted in and made an impact having arrived in January.
Guardiola has admitted his surprise that he has adapted to his new surroundings so quickly despite the fact Jesus has played a lot of football in Brazil with little rest.
“There are 19 year-olds who are physically strong and some who aren’t. We are surprised because sometimes guys need a lot of time to settle and with others it’s immediate.”
The teenage striker will be hoping to continue in this fine vein of form, but his boss has admitted that we will have to “wait and see” if he can keep his starting place.
“There are a lot of games. Now he deserves to be in the team but we’ll see what happens in the next game.”

Guardiola: Aguero still one of “most important players” despite arrival of Brazilian forward Jesus
Manchester City’s Argentine striker Sergio Aguero, 28, still has a key role to play for the club despite losing his place to Brazilian teenager Gabriel Jesus.
Aguero has been left out of the starting eleven for the past two games now, having to make do with a place on the bench where he has seen City’s new recruit net three times in just two starts in his absence.
The formidable forward, who is Manchester City’s third all-time top scorer with 154, is once again the club’s leading scorer this season with 18 goals to his name.
Pep Guardiola has admitted that “it has not been easy,” for Aguero to be left out. “I understand that,” he added.
Guardiola cited that the competition in the squad as one reason for leaving Aguero out of his starting line-up. “There are five guys in this role.”
Despite fans and pundits alike wondering what does this all mean for Aguero’s future his boss Guardiola said “Sergio remains one of the most important players in our squad.”
The Manchester City boss spoke of how Aguero, who has three years left on his City deal, will still play a big role for the team. “What we have to do in the next period, Sergio will be so, so important.
Guardiola pointed towards a potential partnership between Aguero and the exciting talent Gabriel Jesus. “He’s going to play a lot of games. He’s going to play with Gabriel and without Gabriel.”
So how has the 2014-2015 Premier League Golden Boot winner reacted to his new reduced role in recent games? Guardiola repeated the words “perfect” five times in answer to this precise question before adding “of course he wants to play.”
Aguero himself has said that the club will decide his future. “In these three months I have to help the club and they will decide if I have a place here or not."
"In three years my contract is up. That's why I say I'm happy at the club," said Aguero.
"When you're on the bench you have to wait for your opportunity. I have three months to do my best and try to help the team. Then we'll see what happens with my future."
