Rodriguez signs for West Brom
Jay Rodriguez has signed for West Bromwich Albion after five years at St Mary's.
Jay scored 35 goals in 126 appearances for Saints since joining in 2012 from Burnley.
His most prolific season came in the 2013/2014 season where he netted 15 Premier League goals working under manager Mauricio Pochettino. He earned his first senior England call-up that season and netted five goals in just four matches during March 2014.
Rodriguez looked set to be heading to the World Cup as a reward for his fine form that season, only for a cruel injury to rule him out of action for the next eleven months.
Jay scored five goals for Southampton in 2016/2017 including a stunning goal against Bournemouth.
The new West Brom signing took to Twitter to thank Southampton for his time at the club. Jay said: "I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the Southampton fans and all that are involved at the club.
"My five years have been full of highs and lows but one thing that I will take away is the support that you showed me through it all.
"I will never forget my time here or the people that I have met. I wish Southampton FC all the best for the future and look forward to seeing them continue their journey."
Jay leaves Saints with the best wishes of all connected with the club. The move allows the 27-year-old the chance of more first-team opportunities.
