Clasie fires Saints to victory

Southampton cut the gap on eighth-placed West Bromwich Albion to four points, as they triumphed 1-0 at the Hawthorns. Jordy Clasie's sweetly-struck effort in the first half was enough to separate the sides, although Saints were more dominant during most of the afternoon than the scoreline suggested.

West Bromwich Albion 0-1 Southampton

Jordy Clasie's first-half strike proved the difference as Southampton beat West Brom to strengthen their grip on a top-10 finish. The Dutchman was teed up on the edge of the area by the excellent Dusan Tadic and connected with the outside of his boot to drive his shot into the top corner as Saints took the lead on 25 minutes.
