Mason making excellent progress
Ryan Mason, 25, is making “excellent progress” having fractured his skull in a horrifying collision whilst playing for Hull City in the Premier League. Mason, Hull’s record signing, had been visited in hospital by Chelsea defender Gary Cahill (who was involved in the sickening clash of heads) together with their assistant manager Steve Holland. The Chelsea pair along with Hull City captain Michael Dawson and other medical staff from Hull, spent time with Mason’s family and checked on the well-being of the Tigers midfielder at the weekend. Hull had issued an update saying that Mason had been “speaking of the incident and will continue to be monitored at the hospital.” The statement added that Hull “will remain in close contact with Ryan, his family and the staff at St Mary's.” Ryan’s former team-mate Jake Livermore, who has just signed for West Brom from Hull and had also played alongside Mason at Tottenham too, said he “feared the worst” upon hearing the news of the head
