Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino has said that defender Virgil van Dijk will train alone and has asked to leave. "He is not involved with the team because psychologically he is not 100%," said the Saints boss. "When I was talking with him, the boy said that he is not available to play because he wants to leave. "I need to work with a player that works at 100% to defend Southampton. "This is the decision. I had to say: 'OK, if you don't want to be involved because you don't feel OK, you have to train alone until this period of time. "We need the player, but 100% - this is the question. Fraser Forster has signed a new five-year contract with Southampton. The 29-year-old England international has extended his deal with Saints to 2022. Jay Rodriguez has signed for West Bromwich Albion after five years at St Mary's. Jay scored 35 goals in 126 appearances for Saints since joining in 2012 from Burnley. Southampton have announced the signing of Jan Bednarek, a Poland Under-21 international defender from Lech Poznań. The 21-year-old has agreed a five-year-deal at St Mary’s. Bednarek is the first signing of the summer for Saints and the first player since the arrival of new boss Mauricio Pellegrino.
