Image
Two goals from Dušan Tadić saw Southampton pick up a vital three points against Bournemouth at St Mary's. Reaction from Tadic: “It’s a little bit of a relief. We are very happy because we showed great character when it was most difficult. “Finally we have got three points and I need to say thank you to everyone. How our fans supported us, the players and the coaches – we were strong together. “It’s tough to be strong together in difficult moments but finally we got the benefits of that. “It was great. You always remember these kinds of moments because they gave us extra energy, they pushed us. “We also gave them something to make the atmosphere warm and we stayed together. “You can feel how important this win was for the club and everyone at Southampton.” "The new coach gave us extra power and experience and finally we gave him something back. We need to be at our best when it is the most difficult." Dusan Tadic with @AdamBlackmore 👇 #SaintsFC pic.twitt

Arsenal 3-2 Southampton

Southampton put in a spirited performance at the Emirates scoring twice through Shane Long and Charlie Austin. Saints came away empty-handed though as Arsenal narrowly edged the five-goal thriller 3-2. Mark Hughes: "Apart from the key moments which led to goals, I thought our performance was good. "Once we were behind, we had to show a lot of character and I was pleased by what I saw. I wanted to see that kind of performance and that was the main thing for me. It was encouraging, that contrast in what we produced at West Ham and what we did today. “I felt we needed to be solid after conceding too early in the last two games and we were for the most part. We were resolute and when we did break we attacked with good effect, showing a good understanding of what we had worked on during the week. “We broke with good effect behind Longy, creating some good chances and scoring one of them in the first half. I think we were good value at 1-0 even if Arsenal had a lot of possession,
