Charlie Austin speaks about his return to action after a five-month spell on the sidelines. Austin returned for the Saints against Stoke City in the season finale where a Peter Crouch header saw the visitors win 1-0 at St. Marys. "It felt good. Five-and-a-half months is a long time. I've put a lot of hard work in with the medical staff to get back on the pitch and I really enjoyed it. "I didn't realise how much I missed it. I was delighted to be out there, I've come off injury free and now hopefully I can go and have a good summer and be back ready for next year. "I've worked hard over the five months. It's been an annoying injury, but you have to get it right and hopefully I've got it done now and it's gone out the way and I can just keep pushing on. "Not being involved in the run to the [EFL Cup] final was tough, it was mentally tough for me and Virgil as well. We were both injured at the wrong time. No one likes to be in

Middlesbrough 1-2 Southampton

Southampton made seven changes to their lineup for their final away game of the season at Middlesbrough and triumphed 2-1 despite missing a penalty. Jay Rodriguez turned home from Shane Long's cross to put the Saints 1-0 up at half time before Nathan Redmond doubled the lead after the break. Long was then awarded a penalty when he was brought down by Boro keeper Brad Guzan, but his effort from the spot hit the crossbar. The victory sees Claude Puel's side move up to ninth in the Premier League with two games to go. Highlights: Reaction: Jay Rodriguez: “We had a lot of change in the team today and I think that all of the lads that came in did really well, so it’s an important win. “We have good lads in this team who get their heads down and work hard, and I think that really showed today. “We found it hard at times to break Middlesbrough down, but it was a great ball from Longy into the box for me. “It was a good time to score because I think it settled

Liverpool 0-0 Southampton | Forster's penalty save helps Saints to clean sheet at Anfield

Fraser Forster's fine penalty save to deny James Milner from the spot helped Southampton to keep a clean sheet in a goalless draw at Anfield. What they said: Fraser Forster: "The lads in front of me were fantastic and really limited the chances. It was nice to make the save and nice to keep a clean sheet, which is a good foundation moving forward. "I think if you look at his [James Milner's] record he goes left, right, down the middle, but fortunately I guessed right today and made the save. "We're obviously delighted. It's always a tough place to come and we had to battle very hard for that point. "I think as a team we were very strong and compact and made it hard for them to get through us. It was a fantastic team performance and a good point away from home." --- Claude Puel: "Fraser made a fantastic save from this penalty. It was important for him and us, because it was harsh to concede this penalty. It was a good
